BreitBurn Energy Partners issued $450-million in new units last fall to help pay for the natural gas properties in Michigan, Kentucky and Indian that it bought from Quicksilver Resources Inc. The deal nearly tripled its estimated proved reserves and production and, by its estimation, made it Michigan's biggest gas producer.
