FDA OKs Flu Vaccines for 2008-09 Season Aug 7, 2008
The six vaccines for the 2008-09 season and their manufacturers are: CSL Limited, Afluria; GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals, Fluarix; ID Biomedical Corporation of Quebec, FluLaval; MedImmune Vaccines Inc., FluMist; Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics Limited, Fluvirin; and Sanofi Pasteur Inc., Fluzone. They are designed to protect against A/Brisbane/59/2007 (H1N1)-like virus; an A/Brisbane/10/2007 (H3N2)-like virus; and a B/Florida/4/2006-like virus, the FDA said on its Web site. (MEDLINEplus)
FDA Approves FluLaval(TM) (Influenza Virus Vaccine) Oct 8, 2006
GSK added FluLaval to its portfolio of flu products when it acquired the Canadian vaccine manufacturer ID Biomedical Corporation in December 2005. FluLaval, which will be available in 10 dose multi-dose vials, was granted fast track review status by the FDA in July 2005. (DG News)

FluLaval is manufactured by ID Biomedical Corporation of Quebec, Canada, a subsidiary of GlaxoSmithKline Biologics and will be distributed by GlaxoSmithKline, Research Triangle Park, N.C.. Glaxo also bought a Canadian influenza vaccine manufacturer, ID Biomedical Corporation.
